Following on from a discussion in our Facebook CPAP support group, you may be entitled to a Centrelink benefit of $160 every year for the running of your CPAP machine.
Centrelink will pay $160 to go toward the energy costs of your CPAP machine providing you are eligible.
To qualify for this benefit, you or the person you care for, must fit the following criteria:
- Need heating, cooling or certain equipment for their medical needs
- Have a Commonwealth Concession Card
- Pay for the running costs

Please note, if you have further queries about this, they should be directed to Centrelink or your Electricity provider.

Thankyou Andrew for this information. I will follow this up as suggested. A rebate like this could go a short way to helping with incidental costs for masks, filters etc. Certainly worth having.
I am trying to find out how to get the rebate for my c pap machine electricity.
Fay, best to contact Centrelink https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/centrelink or your electricity provider direct about this.
Hi, I support a person (client) who uses a BIPAP Machine and was wondering if this rebate applies to using a BIPAP machine as well (or is it only for CPAP machines?) Please advise. Many Thanks.
Donna, yes absolutely it will.
As I understand it the $160 rebate only applies once and the electricity companies do not give discounts in Queensland
After filling out the forms and sending back to my electricity, I was only told today that they don’t give a rebate on your cpap machine, but you get put on a priority of any plan works and priority blackout reconnecting. They did say you can apply through centrelink for a rebate.
