We recommend changing the filter on your CPAP device every 3-6 months and taking it out and giving it a flick every fortnight or so. If you live in a dusty environment, we advise paying extra attention to this.
In the short term I don’t think you will notice too many benefits of this, but over time it will prevent dust build in the motor. Dust build up is one of the main reasons we need to send machines off after 3 years of functioning.
We think managing your filter is going to add at least an extra 12 months life to your machine, so we strongly advise staying on top of this. We send reminders to our patients every few months reminding them to change their air filters.
If you need to change your filter, check out our website ResMed S9/AirSense 10 Standard Filters
i notice on my machine that the filter gets sucked into the intake because the filter is so thin. i’m thinking of putting a small section of window screen with the filter to stop it from getting sucked into the air intake.
Not a bad idea Tom. This doesn’t appear to be a common problem we encounter. Have you looked at the Hypoallergenic filters?
Mine and my husband’s does same thing. I cut a very thin drinking straw the width if the filter compartment. I position it sitting in front of big tube. This stops the machine from eating filters
Very helpful thankyou
Why won’t the instructions asking me to change filter, disappear when I change filter on my resmed airsense 10 machine
Hi Eve, the filter warning is pre-set by your provider and will go off automatically depending on when this is set. You will need to turn this off manually each time it pops up using the dial and button. If you don’t wish to have this on, you will need your clinician to access the clinical menu to turn it off.
I’m wondering, does the “change filter” message pop up after a scheduled number of days set by the provider, or is there a sensor telling me the filter is dirty? I know it has nothing to do when it was last changed, because sometimes it pops up the day after I’ve changed it – on my own sort of schedule.
Connie, you are onto it. It is a pre-programmed message! Every few months for a filter change works. Every fortnight or so we recommend taking it out and giving it a flick.
Ive been waking up with headaches since i changed my filter. Any suggestions i could try? Reducing the max pressure a bit seems to help
Krysta, I think it is worth talking to your Doctor before changing pressures. I’m not too sure if the filter would be effecting things.
How do you clear the change filter message. It has been on for 8 months and I can’t make it go away
I think it can be done in the clinical menu. You may need to take it in somewhere.
The change filter message still appearing on the screen and it’s almost 3 days since I’ve changed it assist pls
It is a setting in the back settings of machine, you may need to take into your provider to switch it off.
