In this video, I am going to show you the difference between the ResMed AirFit F20 and the ResMed AirTouch F20 full face masks.
On top of the masks being comfortable and very effective the main points of difference are they are:
Very easy to put on and
Have nothing nothing in front of your eyes.
The AirFit F20 is the original mask with a silicone cushion. It’s a good cushion. It’s soft, fits nicely, its durable and its easy to clean.
The AirTouch F20 Memory Foam Cushion is the newer released cushion. It is softer and it seems to fit better on the face, moulding itself into grooves and contours. The catch is the cushion needs to be replaced every 30 days or so. We have only had it for two or three months, so we still haven’t got enough good feedback on how long they’re actually lasting.
Each morning, use a mask wipe to get rid of the oil and dirt which the mask has accumulated overnight, and then go about your business.
The other difference with the AirTouch F20 is the elbow piece in the exhaust. In the older AirFit F20 elbow the exhaust holes are exposed. The new, quieter elbow has got a little casing over it, which distributes the air a little bit differently. This may mean less disturbance for your partner, and a quieter experience for the person using it.
Overall, I think they’re both really good masks. I like how they’re very easy to put on and take off. I like how there’s nothing in front of the eyes.
The newly introduced AirTouch F20 memory foam cushion been really, really popular. I’ve got a lot of people who have gone from the AirFit F20, which has been around for about a year, over to the memory foam cushion, and I’m getting a lot of positive feedback from these guys. If I was a Full Face mask wearer, I’d be very keen to try it.
Would you like to try the new ResMed AirTouch F20? We have a few options for you…
Option 1: You can buy the whole mask for $199. That is a full mask, and then you’re getting two spare cushions as well for $199.00.
Option 2: For people already using the ResMed AirFit F20, you can get a package of the three cushions and the new, quieter elbow for $149.00
Option 3: For people already using the ResMed AirFit F20, you can buy the three cushions for $99 and keep your existing elbow.
The introductory offers for the AIrTouch are really good value. From what we have seen, the AIrTouch is going to be game changer for Full Face CPAP mask wearers and we strongly recommend giving it a go.
Hi Andrew, I want to change the cushion,of the Airtouch F20, however I have problems working out how to remove the clips that hold the strap and the magnets.
Hi Glenn, I have sent you an email. https://sleepright.com.au/resmed/replace-resmed-airtouch-f20-cushion/ This is the blog post on how to change the cushion.
I tried the new Airtouch F20 with foam. Unbelievably, after just 2 nights I had pressure marks on my nose (I have sensitive skin.) Also, I cannot use the wipes to clean the foam; again the sensitivity issue. Especially using the wipes on the mask so close to eyes. I could purchase the silicon cushion but am guessing it also causes pressure masks. With my Mirage Quattro, I use Gecko pads with that. In that case I might as well stick with the Quattro. I picked this Airtouch up at a CPAP store, could not really try it on, due to the foam; cannot try the foam on your face. The whole thing of trying it in the shop lasted only a couple of minutes, to check my mask size. Now I have it home, I’m realising how many issues I have with it. I was told I could take it back within 14 days so will attempt that. I am an experienced user, 10+ years, so knows what works for me and what doesn’t.
Hi Eleanor, good work for giving it a try. I don’t think you bought the mask form us, so hopefully where you got it from are helpful.
regards, Andrew
Which do you recommend? The AirFit or the Touch? I am accustom to a silicon, air inflated cushion but have lost 70 pounds and want to change from my current Activa which I got way back then.
Hi Dot, Both masks are good. What you could do is get the AirFit then get a single AirTouch cushion to have a trial with?
If you take the foam off the touch when it’s worn out is it the same silicone mask that’s used for the fit? Or is it completely different under the foam?
It is a different cushion set up Nigel
I am new to the CPAP treatment I used a was using a Airfit F30i for approximately 5 days medium size, could hardly breathe, yesterday my clinic changed it to an Airfit F20 in a large size which enables me to breathe a lot better but it keeps sliding up my face. I have a very short beard could this be the problem ?
Perhaps Daniel. Could also look at an airtouch cushion. A little bit of trial and error over the next week should sort it out.
I am new to CPAP and have been using the Airfit F20 full mask. I am a side sleeper so some nights my mask slips a bit and I wake up with air leaks. Does the Airfit touch work better for side sleepers?
Its hard to say Rita. It is certainly worth a try.
