In this blog post we ae going to explain the difference between the ResMed AirFit P30i and the ResMed AirFit N30i.
Firstly we will explain the similarities. The headgear, strap and elbow connection point are the same with the two masks. The difference between the two masks is in the cushion.
The P30 (pillow) will make a seal inside your nostrils, whereas the N30 will make a seal underneath your nostrils.
The beauty of this mask is that the P30 and N30 cushions are interchangeable. So if you’re already on a P30i or an N30i, you can use the other cushion with the other frame and headgear.
So in summary, the difference between the ResMed AirFit P30i and the N30i is in the cushion. P30 inside the nostrils, N30 a little cradle that sits underneath the nostrils.

Adrian, I would lean more towards the P30 for seal. As a technician, I have found the pillows seem to seal better than the slits, but I haven’t road tested them myself. Perhaps a good question for the facebook group.
Is there any way to adapt an N30i mask with a Humidx system? I have the Zephair adaptor that enables me to use the mast with my Res Med Air Mini, but would love to know if there is any humidity system that would be compatible. Thanks.

Definitely the P30. I have experimented with both and the P30 gives a much better and consistent seal.
If I am currently using size SW for N30i. What size will be equivalent for the p30i?

I just used a cpap/apap for first time, I have the p30i mask. When I ramp the pressure is low and I must breathe in on my own mostly, and it’s hard to breath in. I think the nostrils may be too small. Can I use the N30i pillow with my p30i mask? Is that a good solution to help me breath in? Or can I cut part of my p30i cushion to make the hole bigger? Thanks!
Yes, you can use the N30 i cushion with the P30i frame. I would try using a bigger P30i cushion before cutting your current one.
Talk to your technician about the issue with breathing in while ramping. There is a setting to fix that issue. Try not to cut/alter your cushions bc that may impact the integrity and cause other issues.
When the pressure of crap goes up past 10 when using nasal masks or pillows air rushes out of mouth and wakes me up. I have resmed auto That is supposed to increase and decrease pressure as needed however I feel that sometimes the pressure is too high. Would a different mask help or can they reduce that pressure on that auto machine

Looking at swapping to P30i from P10 mask, however I use XS size with the P10. There is only small size in the P30i – would that still work??
