Watch the Above Video to Learn How to Fit Your ResMed AirFit N20 Nasal CPAP Mask.
Fitting your ResMed AirFit N20 nasal CPAP mask is simple.
Whenever fitting any CPAP mask we recommend having one hand holding the mask in place over your nose and have the other hand free to manoeuvre the headgear into place.
- Hold the cushion component on your face, then pull the back of the headgear up over your head and pull right to the base of your head.
- Then find the magnet that is connected to the strap coming from the base of the headgear and bring that forward to where it will connect onto the mask. Then do this on the other side.
- Once your mask is secured in place with the magnets, adjust the headgear straps in a similar manner. You want the headgear to be tight enough so that you get a good seal, but not too tight where it is uncomfortable.
I get a bruise across the bridge of my nose. Also, as condensation accumulated in nose cap, my nose itches. I wake up with runny nose and lots of sneezing. Should I use plain HumidX or the Plus disk. Any other suggestions for discomfort of mask and allergy like symptoms the next day?
Hi Ann,
1) to combat the bruising on the bridge of your nose, you could consider using a P10 which makes a seal at the nostrils, avoiding that part of your nose. Even if you switched between 2 masks it would give you a bit of a break.
2) The humidity problem is an interesting one. As a general rule, more humidity can help with sneezing, runny nose etc, however the HumidX will likely put more moisture into the mask area. It is worth having a go with HumidX Plus to see.
Is AirMini the only CPAP device you have used/owned?

I just received this in the mail today and so far I love it…except for the right feeling that I get at the bridge of my nose…I thought maybe the mask was on wrong but no..it’s on correctly..any ideas on how to get this to work?
Can you adjust the straps? or perhaps a different cushion size would be better?
I have the Resmed AirFit N20 shown in this video. In the video, it shows that the mask can be easily lifted and moved about after it is adjusted. If I have the mask that loose I get significant leaks. I have to have it much tighter in order to have my leak rate at a level that I don’t end up with watery eyes. If I keep it very tight I get leak rates around 12 L/min 95% of the time and a max leak of around 14.5 L/min.
In the video he is moving the cushion after tightening and even pulling it away from his face. When I have mine tightened I can’t move it very much.
Am I using this as intended? How do I know if it is too tight?
The mask and cushion is 5 months old – how soon should I replace?
thanks for any advice.
James, mask should be tight enough that it seals but not too tight that it is uncomfortable. If you are finding the mask uncomfortable it may be worth having a look at a different mask.
