The ResMed AirFit F30i Full Face mask is now available.
What it is?
The AirFit F30i is a full face mask. It has been designed with the tubing connection at the top of the mask and the cushion sits over the mouth while sealing underneath the nose. Other features include magnetic clips and easy to fit headgear.
What patients are saying
The feedback we have received from our patients so far is generally positive. One major benefit that has been reported is that the tubing isn’t getting in the way as much as other masks. This can be attributed to the top of the head connection point of the mask.
We’re also getting feedback from patients that have previously had irritations on the nose, that this irritation is not occurring anymore.
Overall most users have been pleased with the design and effectiveness of the AirFit F30i mask.
What we’re saying
Overall the AirFit F30i is a solid and adaptable mask. This is particularly true for stomach sleepers as the mask connection allows for 360° of rotation.
One downside to the AirFit F30i is that it cannot be used with the ResMed AirMini CPAP machine. However, the F30i is compatible with every other CPAP machine on the market today including Philips & Fisher & Paykel machines.
The sizing for the AirFit F30i can also be a little confusing however, you can download a sizing guide for the mask here. Alternatively, drop in store or book an appointment to have a free mask fitting.
The AirFit F30i has had some significant design changes when compared to previous full face models. To see how the AirFit F30i compares to its predecessors the AirFit F20 & AirFit F30, Click here.
Not impressed with design quality. I have had the mask for less than a year, and one of the rear plastic clips securing the frame to the mask has broken. The clip on the other side has cracked halfway through. This has lasted less than a year, and now I find the warranty is only 90 days!
Plus the cost of a replacement frame is almost the same as a new mask
The tab on my f30i frame broke early this year. I replaced it, and in the last month the tabs on both sides of the new frame have both broken along the bottom edge. Not happy at all with the choice of flimsy plastic for the tabs that lock the frame into the mask. All outside of warranty.
I have had the same problem; broken clips that connect the frame to the cushion after only 8 months on 2 frames, so I sent an email to ResMed but have not received a response. They could at least suggest a good quality super glue or better still make the clip stronger given they have known about this problem for a least 18 months.
I have had this happen to 2 frames now. The tabs securing the frame the masks are very flimsy and don’t last much longer than 6 months. I now have to always have a spare frame on hand.
I will getting my first CPAP machine and was wondering if the Resmed Airfit F31i will allow breathing through both mouth and nose.
Thanks
Stan, yes it will.
Is the Resmed Airfit F30 i compatible with the Z2 travel crap ?
Teresa, I believe so. I haven’t had much to do with the Z2, but I am 99% sure it will be fine.
Why doesn’t it work with the AirMed Mini? I mean what does it do that it doesn’t work please.
Thank you
Colinda
Colinda, it is to do with the connection point between the tube and mask.
Do you have any feedback from side sleepers? I note you say it allows for 360 degree movement. If the tube on one side is pressed into the pillow does enough air come in from the tube on the other side to allow for breathing and comfortable side sleep?
Peter, if you are on Facebook, it may be worth joining our CPAP group and you can ask other users: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2217875275197228/

I am almost exclusively a side sleeper, and have been using this mask for about three months now. It’s taken a bit of getting used to, but I have had no problems breathing with this. The tubing on one side does get compressed some, but air still flows with plenty of pressure within the two tubes.
The things to watch for as a side sleeper with this mask are how your head rests on the pillow. You *will* want to have a pillow specifically designed for CPAP mask usage, or you’ll want to have one that can support the side of your head but not press on the mask. The seal along the nose is *very* easy to break if you shift a little and then you’re getting high-pressure air right up into your eyes. I’ve found the trick is to settle the mask lightly and let the air pressure form the seal, then tighten the straps down to ensure it stays in place and has a bit more contact with your face.
How do you fix air leaks at the corners of you mouth when you relax your jaw? The only fix I have so far is to over tighten the side straps to compensate. Not good.
You may need a different type/size mask. best to see someone about this.
I am having problems with the amount of air that comes straight out of the mask front. Is this common for this mask?
There will always be an exhaust out the front of the mask. It will feel like more than the F20 as this has the QuietAir technology in the elbow.
